A Princess and a Mother

On the sixth day of September,
Whole Nations said goodbye,
To a mother of two children,
Known to all as Princess Di.

People in their millions,
Flocked to the palace gate,
Hardly able to believe
The cruelty of fate.

To sign books of condolence,
They stood and queued for hours.
The love she gave out they returned
With tears, poems and flowers.

And money, to her charities,
Because she was so kind,
In her memory they will continue,
The work she left behind.

In Westminster Abbey,
The words of Saint Francis' prayer,
Told that from sadness she brought joy,
Gave hope where there was dispair.

We will remember a Princess,
In the years to come,
But, our two young Princes,
Will just remember their mum.
