Reaching for a Star

You stand there upon the stage,
A famous rock star, all the rage,
Besieged by crowds of screaming fans,
They call your name, hold out their hands.
Somehow I manage to push through,
Then I hold out my hand to you,
Your eyes meet mine, their brilliant gaze,
Really puts me in a daze.
You reach down and take my hand,
I wish that you could understand,
So many things I want to say,
But you have no time to stay.
By tomorrow you'll be gone,
Another gig, another town,
With other girls who wave and call,
Will you remember me at all?
Starlight may fade with the light of day,
And you'll be many miles away,
But I won't forget, wherever you are,
That for one brief moment I touched a star.
